Fellowships Available to The Full-Time Scholars Details

Name of the fellowship and Eligibility Details

UGC – JRF fellowship - Candidates who have qualified in NET or the UGC-CSIR joint test. However, the selection for the JRF is made by the University/Institutions/Departments.

Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship for SC/ST candidates - The candidate should belong to SC/ST and should have passed the Post Graduate examination. The selection will be made on the basis of merit of the candidates. The candidate must get himself/herself registered for M.Phil/Ph.D at the first available opportunity but not later than within a period of two years from the receipt of award letter. This period is not extendable. However, the actual payment of fellowship will be made with effect from the date of approval of fellowship or date of joining whichever is later.

Post-doctoral Fellowship - Candidates who have either received a Ph.D degree or submitted their Ph.D thesis are eligible to apply. When selected, those holding the Ph.D degree will be directly awarded the named pdf. Theses who have submitted their Ph.D thesis may be awarded a 'bridging fellowship' (with marginally reduced stipend) until they are formally awarded the Ph.D degree.

The fellowship will be awarded on a yearly basis with renewal/termination clause on the basis of pdf mentor/peer group appraisal. However, the maximum duration of the pdf award would be 3 years. Candidates should give an undertaking while availing the award, along with the endorsement of the research mentor, that they would stay in place for a minimum of six months

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad National Fellowship for higher studies - This fellowship will be on the pattern of University Grants Commission (UGC) Fellowships given to research students pursuing regular and full time M. Phil and Ph.D courses and the scheme will cover all Universities/Institutions recognized by the UGC under section 2(f) and section 3 of the UGC Act and will be implemented by the Ministry of Minority Affairs (MoMA) through UGC for students belonging to the minority communities

INSPIRE Fellowship - Only 1st rank holder in each Post- Graduate (PG) level examinations in Basic/ Natural Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Medical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Sciences at the University and academic Institutions

who are eligible for admission and want to pursue research, leading to Ph.D., in any Indian University/ National Institute/ National laboratories in India will be eligible for this fellowship. 1st Rank holder in College including Autonomous College examination are not eligible

ICSSR Doctoral Fellowship - The Candidates who hold a Master’s degree of a recognised university with a first or second class with 55% marks in social sciences, registered for Ph.D. in social sciences and have cleared National Eligibility Test (NET) of UGC /CSIR are eligible to apply

The Candidates should preferably not be more than 35 years (relaxable by 5 years in case of SC/ST)as on the last date for the receipt of the completed applications in the Council. For teachers and professional staff of research institutes holding regular posts, the upper age limit would be 45 years

BPR&D Fellowship - The fellowships are open to Indian National of 30 years of age in General Category and 35 years of age in Reserve Category (SC/ST/OBC) as on the date of publication of Advertisement for the purpose every year

First or second class Master's Degree not less than 55% marks for General Category and 50% for Reserve Category (SC/ST/OBC) in Criminology, Sociology, Social work, Psychology, Social Anthropology, Public Administration, Political Science, Law and Police Administration. The candidate should be registerred for Ph.D Degree in any of the subject mentioned above

ICHR Fellowship - Only a scholar registered for the degree of Ph.D. or equivalent thereof at an Indian university shall be eligible for a Junior Research Fellowship. No Junior Research Fellowship will be awarded to students studying for M.Phil degree

USRF - Must have a PG Degree in any discipline
